Bi-Shan, otherwise Molly of Limehouse and her little brother. The descriptive text inside although possibly a little patronising displays none of the racial slurs so common in newspapers of the time. Molly (age about 10) makes folded paper toys and sells them for one penny. She still has her feet bound in the Chinese fashion although they thought her mother might soon abandon the practice. This is the first copy I have seen of this publication even though this 1915 edition is issue 1,753 and it was published from 1888 to 1996!
