78 rpm record sleeve from “The” Record Shop 33A St Pauls Way, Bow. This is likely to date from 1957 as it contains a copy of Last Train to San Fernando / Rock-A-Billy Baby by Johnny Duncan and The Blue Grass Boys which reached number 2 in that year (denied top spot by Paul Anka’s “Diana”.
Duncan (1932 – 2000) was born in the USA but lived for many years in the UK. The large sleeves needed to hold the 10 inch diameter 78 rpm records provided plenty of space for advertisements. This is a very late example as 78s were already on their way out by 1957.
