School reward card dated 1900 awarded to John Crome as a pupil at Single Street School.

He could well be the John S Crome, born 1893, living in Mile End Old Town at the time of the 1901 census. Single Street ran south from Bridge Street (between Hamlets Way and Solebay Street). It was obliterated by the creation of Mile End Park. The average roll in 1905 was 1,155 showing how densely populated the area was.
